Four people have been killed in a road accident involving a commuter omnibus and an AD van near Prince of Wales along the Mutare-Chigodora Road.

The fatal crash occurred late on Monday afternoon, with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) saying the kombi driver allegedly attempted to overtake other vehicles at a curve.

According to police, the commuter omnibus side-swiped the AD van while overtaking before veering off the road.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which four people were killed after a commuter omnibus side-swiped an AD van and veered off the road near Prince of Wales, along Mutare-Chigodora Road,” police said.

“The driver is said to have overtaken other vehicles at a curve and side-swiped an AD van before veering off the road.”

Police said the number of people injured in the crash had not yet been established.

“More details will be released in due course,” the ZRP said.
