HARARE — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned armed robbery syndicates that there will be no let-up in the fight against violent crime following a shoot-out involving a robbery suspect in Chitungwiza.

Police said the incident occurred on 15 September 2026 in Unit N, Seke, where armed robbery suspect William Shereni Manase allegedly engaged police officers in a shootout.

Manase sustained a gunshot wound but escaped from the scene, police said. A Toyota Vitz, registration number AFF 7478, was recovered.

The suspect is wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a company in Borders Estate, Ruwa, on 13 September, during which US$108,000 in cash was allegedly stolen.

The ZRP said it was pursuing other suspects believed to be linked to the robbery, who allegedly used the aliases Obert Tinarwo, also known as Mambo Dhuterere; James Dhlora, alias Kasongo; and David Majagada, alias Kule Dhivha.

Police said the latest incident demonstrated its determination to pursue armed robbery suspects across the country.

“The ZRP warns armed robbery syndicates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robbery cases throughout the country,” police said.

The force added that suspects who choose to confront police officers or engage them in shoot-outs would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in locating the wanted suspects to report to the nearest police station.

Earlier reports confirmed that police had arrested other suspects in connection with the US$108,000 Ruwa robbery, while investigations into accomplices who remain at large were continuing.
