HARARE — Police have arrested the owner of Scorpion Empire Car Sale, Gilbert Rumbwere (44), in connection with the death of Malcom Muzawazi (39), who was fatally attacked by four dogs in Southerton last week.
In an update issued on 29 September 2026, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that Rumbwere, who had been on the run, was arrested over Muzawazi’s death.
Muzawazi was attacked by four dogs on 24 September along a footpath near a car sale in Southerton, Harare.
Police encouraged dog owners to secure and control their pets at all times to prevent attacks on the public.
The ZRP warned that dogs should not be allowed to roam streets or public places unattended and urged owners to comply with relevant laws, regulations and local authority by-laws.
Members of the public have also been urged to report stray, aggressive or uncontrolled dogs to the relevant authorities, the nearest police station, or the National Complaints Desk.
The latest development comes as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Muzawazi’s death continue.
