Former Norton MP Temba Mliswa has weighed into ZANU-PF’s internal power struggles, accusing party legal affairs secretary Ziyambi Ziyambi of plotting to undermine President Emmerson Mnangagwa through proposed constitutional changes.
Mliswa alleged that Ziyambi and his allies were behind the extraordinary Politburo session that was cancelled yesterday, claiming they intended to stage what he described as a “procedural coup” against Mnangagwa.
He also accused Ziyambi of opposing Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which extended the presidential and parliamentary terms from five years to seven.
“Ziyambi and his team must go; he is treasonous. Ziyambi Ziyambi is a sellout,” Mliswa said.
ZANU PF officials attributed the meeting’s postponement to a clash of programmes, while reports pointed to tensions within the party over proposed constitutional changes.
