ZANU PF will take disciplinary action against Members of Parliament who absented themselves from crucial parliamentary sittings during the consideration of Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, the party’s legal secretary Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has said.
Ziyambi announced the planned action at the ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi on Saturday.
He said lawmakers who failed to attend Parliament during the Bill’s consideration would face sanctions.
“The party has resolved to invoke disciplinary measures against ZANU PF members of Parliament who absconded from Parliament and failed to vote on the crucial Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill,” he said.
Among the legislators who did not vote on the Bill were Skills Audit Minister Jenfan Muswere, Information Communication Technology Minister Tatenda Mavetera, Mashonaland West Minister of State Marian Chombo, Deputy Primary and Secondary Education Minister Angeline Gata and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Sheillah Chikomo.
According to provincial chairpersons, the resolutions followed grassroots consultations.
Onw of the main resolutions affirms the continued leadership of President Mnangagwa until 2030.
The conference resolutions are expected to shape the party’s political and organisational direction in the coming years.
