HARARE — An eight-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a Rottweiler in a horrifying attack in Riverside, Glen View 7, with two other people also injured.
The attack happened on September 9, 2026, when the black male Rottweiler attacked the infant, a two-year-old child and a 26-year-old woman.
Police said the eight-month-old suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene, while the other two victims sustained injuries.
The dog’s owner, John Nyandoro, 48, has been arrested and is facing charges of culpable homicide.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are continuing.
The latest tragedy has renewed concerns over the responsibility of dog owners to keep potentially dangerous animals properly secured.
The ZRP has urged all dog owners to ensure their animals are safely confined at all times to prevent further attacks and loss of life.
Last year in March, a 39-year-old man was mauled to death in a pit bull attack in Harare’s Bluffhill suburb.
