Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the late former President Robert Mugabe’s son, has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday after appearing at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
Chatunga appeared in court on Thursday alongside four co-accused for allegedly assaulting Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officials during an operation to seize two luxury vehicles from a Harare lodge.
The five are accused of assaulting the investigators during the operation in which a Lamborghini Urus and a Mercedes-Benz, suspected of having been illegally imported into Zimbabwe, were seized.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police had earlier confirmed the arrest of Chatunga and four others in connection with the alleged assault at Brompton Guest Lodge in Highlands on November 3.
The suspects are expected to return to court on Friday for a bail hearing.
