Apostolic figure Madzibaba Kobo claims the late Wicknell Chivayo was “misled” into divorcing his first wife, Sonja Madzikanda, after prophets told him she was a threat to his life.

In a video circulating since the 30 September helicopter crash that killed Chivayo and his wife Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, Kobo alleges:

“Vakamuudza kuti mukadzi wake arikuda kumuuraya.” [They told him his wife wanted to kill him].

Kobo further alleges in the recording:

“Vaprofita vakamunyengedza.

“Vakati Sonja anoda kumuuraya kuti atore mari.” [Prophets deceived him. They said Sonja wanted to kill him to take his money].

“Ndizvo zvakaita kuti amuramba.

“Asi zvanga zviri nhema.” [That is what made him divorce her. But it was lies].

According to Kobo, Chivayo believed the prophecies because of his deep faith in prophetic circles.

He then ended his 7-year marriage to Madzikanda in 2024.

The marriage had begun with lobola in July 2017 and a wedding in December 2017.

Chivayo went on to marry Muteke in March 2025.

At the time of his death, Madzikanda had an active High Court claim for a US$25 million settlement, monthly maintenance, properties and vehicles.
