The European Union’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Ms Katrin Hagemann, has died suddenly, the EU Delegation confirmed on Thursday. Hagemann passed away on 3 September 2026 in what the delegation described as a sudden and unexpected death, sending shockwaves through the diplomatic community in Harare.

The EU Delegation extended condolences to her family and loved ones, adding that, out of respect for their privacy, no further details would be released at this time. The cause of death was not disclosed.

A Book of Condolences will be open to the public from Monday, 7 September, to Thursday, 10 September, 2026, between 10:00 and 16:00 daily, at the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe.
