Harare – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested 12 suspects after recovering approximately 10 tonnes of sugar allegedly being repackaged into underweight packets bearing Tongaat Hulett branding at a house in Waterfalls, Harare.

In a statement on X, ZACC said preliminary investigations indicated that the sugar was destined for informal markets, where it would be sold as a genuine product despite being packed in underweight quantities.

Investigators also recovered unused 2kg packaging materials bearing suspected counterfeit branding, heat-sealing machines and an industrial air blower.

ZACC did not reveal the suspects’ identities or the charges they are expected to face.
