The Zanu PF Harare province made a significant decision yesterday, agreeing to postpone the National People’s Congress, originally scheduled for 2027, to 2030.

This change aligns with the national Constitution’s updated electoral cycle of seven years.

The province has made it clear that they support President and First Secretary Cde Mnangagwa as the party’s candidate for the upcoming elections.

They also reaffirmed his role ahead of the next congress in 2030.

Cde Godwills Masimirembwa addressed attendees at a Zanu PF inter-district meeting.

“We have resolved that until the next congress he remains President and First Secretary of the party, and at that congress he will be our nominee as party leader.”

In addition, Zanu PF Harare province put forth several resolutions to be reviewed at the ruling party’s 23rd annual National People’s Conference, set to take place next month in Chinhoyi.

These resolutions were thoroughly discussed and approved during a Provincial Inter-District meeting.

This was followed by a Provincial Coordinating Committee gathering, which included both party leaders and grassroots members.

The PCC convened in accordance with the party’s constitution to formally adopt the resolutions from the earlier inter-district meeting.
