Businessman and newly appointed Cabinet Minister Kudakwashe Tagwirei has been appointed Zanu-PF Secretary for Economic Affairs and Investment Promotion, securing a position in the ruling party’s powerful Politburo.

Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Christopher Mutsvangwa announced the appointment in a statement dated October 15, 2026, and it takes immediate effect.

The Politburo is Zanu-PF’s highest decision-making body outside the party congress and serves as the standing committee of the Central Committee.

The members are appointed by the party president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Tagwirei’s party appointment comes days after Mnangagwa appointed him Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion, placing him in charge of a key government portfolio focused on economic growth and investment.

The dual appointments put Tagwirei in prominent roles in both the ruling party’s leadership and government.

In the same announcement, Mnangagwa appointed Mayor Wadyajena to the Central Committee, while former Science and Technology Secretary Obert Moses Mpofu was appointed to the Council of Elders.

Mutsvangwa said the changes were made by Mnangagwa, through Zanu-PF Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
