Our video team travelled to Bikita to see who is really cashing in on Zimbabwe's mineral boom, spending three days at one of the district's largest concentrate processing sites.
What we found was a landscape transformed: new access roads, a sudden influx of workers from across the country, and a local economy now almost entirely tethered to the price of a mineral most residents had never heard of a decade ago.
The film follows a shift supervisor, a smallholder farmer whose land now borders an open pit, and a provincial mining official grappling with how to make the boom benefit the district long after the deposit is exhausted.
