One person has died, three others were injured, and five excavators were set on fire during violent clashes at Chenxi Mine Site Four in the Wanderer mining area of Shurugwi.

The violence occurred on Monday night, November 2, 2026, prompting a police investigation into the incident.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that investigations were underway into the public violence.

“Investigations are currently underway in connection with public violence which occurred during the night on 02nd November 2026 at Chenxi Mine Site Four in the Wanderer mining area, Shurugwi, in which one person died, three others were injured, and five excavators were set on fire,” Nyathi said.

Police said more information would be released as investigations continue.
