We support journalism and engagement across five core focus areas: climate and environment, peace and conflict, global health, human rights, and information and artificial intelligence.
Scope of Work and Deliverables
The Pulitzer Center seeks temporary project management support to help the team transform ambitious engagement strategies into operational reality—ensuring that breakthrough journalism reaches classrooms, communities, and audiences worldwide through well-executed programs and seamless collaboration. We’re looking for specific expertise that includes turning strategy into action, building scalable project management infrastructure, and consulting across distributed teams.
Deliverables include:
- An audit of the Engagement Department’s project management tool usage.
- An adaptable but comprehensive system that guides teams through new grant launches or extensions.
- A set of Asana templates designed for Engagement team projects, along with usage guidelines and Asana training materials.
- A revised, streamlined template for Engagement teams’ annual workplans and midyear evaluations.
- Shared tools and resources for specific Engagement programs, such as templates for RFPs, applications, and impact reports for journalism impact grant programs.
The consultant will work in close partnership with the Engagement Coordination Team, consisting of the Senior Manager of Impact Special Initiatives and the Chief Impact Officer. The consultant will need to regularly solicit and incorporate feedback from staff across the organization as part of their work.
Engagement Details
This consultancy is scoped for an estimated 240–320 hours across the contract term. The fee will be structured as a fixed project rate tied to the deliverables and monthly milestones. Deliverables and the associated fee may be adjusted depending on the consultant’s skills and availability.
The Pulitzer Center has a remote, global staff. Working hours may be flexible, but the ability to arrange meetings with staff across a range of time zones is essential to this engagement.
Timeline
- Application deadline: Monday, September 7, 2026. This is a rolling deadline, and the form may close early depending on the volume of qualified bids.
- Interviews with selected bidders: Week of September 14, 2026.
- Consultant selection: Approximately September 18, 2026.
- Contract term: September 25, 2026–December 31, 2026.
Budget and Submission
The total fee for this engagement is expected to fall within the range of 8,000–16,000 for the full contract period, based on the scope of work and deliverables above. Please include your proposed fee as part of your application.
