Two pedestrians were killed in a hit-and-run accident along Christmas Pass–Shamu Road in Mutare after a motorist struck them and fled the scene, police have said.

The fatal accident occurred at around 3 am on October 23, with both victims dying on the spot.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said investigations were underway to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the accident.

Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist investigations to report it to their nearest police station.
