JOHANNESBURG — South African police have recovered the body of another woman in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, bringing the total number of women’s bodies discovered in the area over the past two months to nine.

The unidentified body was discovered on the morning of 17 September 2026, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The latest discovery has been added to ongoing investigations into the deaths of women across Ekurhuleni, amid concerns over a series of killings in the area.

SAPS has not confirmed that all the cases are linked, with investigators continuing to examine evidence and the circumstances surrounding each death.

Police previously said they were investigating similarities between some of the cases, but would confirm any links only once forensic and investigative processes were complete.

A multidisciplinary team comprising investigators and other specialists has been mobilised to work on the cases and identify those responsible.

The team is expected to analyse evidence and follow investigative leads as police seek to bring suspects before the courts.

The discovery comes a day after police confirmed the eighth body in the area, further intensifying concern over the deaths of women in Ekurhuleni.

Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with information that could assist the investigations.

SAPS has also urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information or making accusations without evidence.
