GABORONE — A 28-year-old Zimbabwean man who describes himself as a spiritual healer has appeared in a Botswana court facing charges after allegedly being found in possession of suspected human body parts.
Nyasha Mugodzeri was arrested following a tip-off from members of the public, with authorities alleging that the suspected remains include male genitalia.
Mugodzeri is facing charges of unlawful possession of suspected human body parts and entering Botswana through an unofficial border crossing.
Prosecutors told the court that investigations are still underway and that the body-parts charge is currently being treated as a holding charge pending further inquiries.
Mugodzeri has applied for bail, telling the court that he would not flee if released.
The court is expected to rule on his bail application on Friday, while the matter is scheduled to return to court on 18 September.
