The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced a nationwide initiative aimed at curbing the use of vehicles without registration plates and those equipped with unauthorized blue lights.

In a press release published on Tuesday, the police expressed growing concern over the increasing trend where motorists operate vehicles lacking proper registration or have installed equipment that could mislead the public into believing they are law enforcement vehicles.

“It is a serious offence for any motorist to drive without number plates or to attach blue lights and other prohibited gadgets to their vehicles,” the ZRP stated.

The police highlighted that the addition of such equipment not only undermines public safety but also threatens the maintenance of law and order.

The Commissioner-General of Police has mandated all police stations, provinces, and districts to take decisive action against violators.

Officers have been instructed to arrest offenders and confiscate any vehicles found operating without registration or with illegal fittings.

The police further emphasized that they will not entertain excuses from offenders, reinforcing a stricter enforcement posture aimed at enhancing safety and compliance on the roads.

“No justifications will be accepted from drivers, as police work to strengthen law and order across the country,” the ZRP concluded.
